Noryl Specifications — Sizes, Tolerances, UL 94 & Standards

Noryl (modified PPO+PS) stock shapes are governed by SABIC material specifications, UL 94 flame certifications, and, for water-contact grades, NSF/ANSI 61. This page summarizes the applicable standards, minimum property requirements, stock size ranges, and dimensional tolerances for Noryl EN265, GFN3, and 731 in rod, sheet, and tube form.

At a glance:

  • Primary standard: SABIC Noryl material data sheet; ASTM D6869 covers modified PPO shapes
  • UL 94 V-0: EN265 and GFN3 at ≥0.030" (0.75mm) wall/thickness
  • Rod: 0.500" – 6.0" diameter in 4-ft lengths
  • Sheet: 0.125" – 4.0" thick; standard 24" × 48" sheets
  • Tube: OD/ID combinations to order
  • NSF-61 potable water: available on select grades — confirm lot documentation

Tube is available in standard OD/ID combinations to order. OD tolerance: ±0.015" to ±0.030" depending on size.

UL 94 Flame Certification

UL 94 is the critical certification for Noryl electrical applications.

EN265V-00.030" (0.75mm)
GFN3V-00.030" (0.75mm)
731V-1 or HBVaries

V-0 definition: Material self-extinguishes within 10 seconds after removal of the ignition source; no flaming drips.

UL Yellow Card documentation is available for Noryl EN265 and GFN3 — request the Yellow Card from SABIC or your distributor when UL documentation is required for equipment certification filings.

Electrical Specification Summary

Engineering Drawing Notation

For Noryl parts on engineering drawings:

  • Material callout: "Noryl EN265, SABIC or approved equivalent, per ASTM D6869"
  • Flame requirement: "UL 94 V-0 at minimum 0.030" wall; Yellow Card documentation required"
  • Potable water: "NSF/ANSI 61 compliance required; COC required per lot"
  • Tolerances: Machined Noryl holds ±0.001" on turned diameters; ±0.002" on milled features without difficulty
