PEEK Machined Parts

PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is one of the highest-performing thermoplastics available for precision machined parts — rated for continuous service to 480°F (250°C), resistant to nearly all industrial chemicals, and dimensionally stable under sustained mechanical load. When you need a plastic machined part that can substitute for metal in demanding thermal, chemical, or structural environments, PEEK is the first material to evaluate.

Federal Materials machines PEEK to customer prints in prototype and production quantities. Our CNC turning and milling cells hold ±0.0005" on critical features, and we stock multiple PEEK grades — including unfilled, glass-filled, and carbon-filled — to match your application requirements.

What We Machine in PEEK

  • Bearing rings and bushings — unfilled or carbon-filled; dry-run and lubricated applications
  • Valve seats and plug bodies — chemical-process and semiconductor industry
  • Seals and backup rings — high-pressure, high-temperature service
  • Wear pads and wear strips — glass-filled and carbon-filled grades for sliding contact
  • Structural brackets and housings — metal replacement in aerospace and medical device
  • Insulators and stand-off fasteners — PEEK's inherent dielectric properties
  • Semiconductor tooling components — ultra-clean, outgassing-controlled
  • Pump components — impellers, diffusers, retaining rings
  • Custom prototypes — from rod, plate, or tube stock with short lead times

Typical Tolerances

Dimension typeProduction tolerance
Critical turned dims (OD/ID)±0.0005"
General machined dims±0.003"
Hole location (CNC milled)±0.002"
Flatness (plates ≤ 12")±0.002"
Surface finish63 µin Ra standard; finer on request

PEEK is one of the most dimensionally stable engineering plastics under thermal and mechanical load. Parts should be allowed to equilibrate to ambient temperature after machining before final inspection — especially for close-tolerance bore work.

Finish Options

FinishDescription
As-machinedSmooth PEEK surface, deburred, edges broken — no treatment required
Polished boresLapped or honed to 32 µin Ra or better for seal and bearing applications
Anodizing / coatingNot applicable — PEEK does not require surface treatment
PassivationNot required; PEEK is chemically inert

PEEK parts require no post-machining treatment for most applications. Specify bore finish requirements (Ra target) on your drawing.

Standard Turnaround

StageLead time
Quote responseSame business day
Prototype / first article (1–5 pcs)3–5 business days
Short run (6–50 pcs)5–10 business days
Production run (50+ pcs)10–15 business days

PEEK stock is maintained on-site. Lead times assume standard grades; specialty grades (carbon-filled, bearing grade) confirmed at quoting.
