POM Sheet — Thicknesses, Sizes & Stock Forms
POM sheet is flat stock produced from polyoxymethylene (POM), the polymer family behind acetal plastics. It combines low friction, excellent dimensional stability, and high stiffness in a form that is easy to saw, route, and machine into flat components. POM sheet is widely used for wear liners, slide plates, fabricated housings, and precision flat parts across industrial, food processing, and automation applications.
At a glance:
- Thickness range: 0.125" to approximately 4.0" (standard stock)
- Standard sheet sizes: 24" × 48" and 48" × 96"
- Thickness tolerance: close commercial tolerances
- Material: Polyoxymethylene (POM)
- Color: Natural (white/off-white); black grades available
- Very low moisture absorption — maintains flatness in wet environments
Standard Thickness Table
POM sheet is stocked in common thicknesses to support a variety of fabrication operations:

| 3/8" (0.375") | 24"×48", 48"×96" | Medium-duty flat parts |
| 1/2" (0.500") | 24"×48", 48"×96" | Pump faceplates, valve blanks |
| 3/4" (0.750") | 24"×48", 48"×96" | Structural flat components |
| 1" (1.000") | 24"×48", 48"×96" | Heavier machined flat parts |
| 2" (2.000") | 24"×48" | Block-thickness applications |

Typical Applications
POM sheet is fabricated into flat components across many industries:
- Wear pads and slide plates — low coefficient of friction extends service life in moving assemblies
- Conveyor guide rails — resists abrasion and maintains profile under continuous sliding contact
- Food processing equipment components — FDA-compliant grades support hygienic environments
- Machined pump faceplates and body sections — chemical resistance for fluid-handling systems
- Fixture and tooling plates — high stiffness maintains flatness in precision assembly jigs
- Electrical insulating panels — non-conductive baseline grade for moderate electrical isolation
Machining POM Sheet
POM sheet machines with standard woodworking and plastics equipment. Table saws and circular saws with fine-tooth carbide blades produce smooth, clean edges. CNC routers fitted with O-flute or single-flute bits minimize heat and prevent gumming. Waterjet cutting is effective for profile cutting without heat effects. For precision flat parts, conventional milling with carbide end mills gives excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
