POM-H Sheet — Thicknesses, Sizes & Stock Forms

POM-H sheet is flat stock produced from acetal homopolymer (polyoxymethylene homopolymer), the higher-strength variant of acetal. Its greater mechanical strength, stiffness, and fatigue resistance compared to copolymer acetal make POM-H sheet the preferred choice for fabricated wear components, structural flat parts, and precision tooling that operate under elevated loads or in demanding mechanical environments.

At a glance:

  • Thickness range: standard thicknesses from 0.125" to approximately 4.0"
  • Standard sheet sizes: 24" × 48" and 48" × 96"
  • Thickness tolerance: close commercial tolerances
  • Material: Acetal Homopolymer — Polyoxymethylene Homopolymer (POM-H)
  • Color: Natural (white/off-white)
  • Water absorption (24 h / 96 h): 0.05 / 0.1 %

Typical Applications

POM-H sheet is specified where standard acetal sheet must carry higher loads or withstand greater fatigue:

  • High-load wear pads and slide plates — superior wear resistance and higher fatigue strength
  • Precision tooling and fixture plates — dimensional accuracy under sustained clamping loads
  • Structural panels in automation systems — high stiffness-to-weight with minimal creep
  • Pump faceplates and valve body sections — chemical resistance combined with elevated strength
  • Food processing wear components — FDA-compliant grades available where high load and hygiene intersect
  • High-cycle fabricated linkages — fatigue resistance for parts subject to repetitive stress

Machining POM-H Sheet

POM-H sheet machines with the same equipment used for copolymer acetal but may feel slightly stiffer during cutting due to its higher crystallinity. Carbide-tipped saw blades and single-flute router bits work well. For precision flat milling, standard carbide end mills deliver excellent surface finish. Stress-relieve thick sections at moderate temperature after rough machining if critical flatness is required over large areas.
