PA12 material (polyamide 12) is an extruded nylon plastic distinguished by its low moisture absorption relative to other polyamide grades. PA12 provides good mechanical strength, solid impact resistance, and flexibility suited to parts exposed to vibration or cyclic loading. Where even higher stiffness is required, Ready Plastics offers PA12 CF50 — a 50% carbon-fiber-reinforced variant that dramatically increases rigidity and load-bearing performance while maintaining low weight. CF50 is the preferred choice when dimensional stability and structural stiffness are the primary design drivers.
Choosing within the nylon family. Within the broader nylon material lineup, PA12 sits between PA6 (higher strength, higher moisture absorption) and an optimal low-moisture balance. When maximum strength matters more than moisture stability, PA66 is the step up. For the lowest moisture absorption in the family, PA12 leads extruded grades; PA612 offers an intermediate position with a balance of strength and moisture performance.
