PP plastic — polypropylene — is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that combines exceptionally low density with outstanding resistance to chemicals, moisture, and repeated flexing. As one of the lightest engineering thermoplastics available, PP material delivers reliable performance in chemically aggressive environments at a cost-effective price point that heavier engineering polymers cannot match.

Polypropylene resists a wide range of acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, making it a reliable choice wherever chemical exposure is a design concern. Its near-zero moisture absorption keeps part dimensions stable in wet environments, and its excellent fatigue resistance — particularly in living-hinge applications — adds engineering versatility. PP is available in natural (off-white) and other formulations suited to food-contact and cleanroom environments.

Typical applications include chemical processing tanks and liners, fluid handling components, laboratory equipment, food-contact trays and fixtures, light-duty structural panels, and any application where chemical resistance and low weight are priorities over high mechanical strength.

Ready Plastics stocks PP in sheet and rod for machined and fabricated components. For applications requiring higher strength while maintaining chemical resistance, consider PVDF — a fluoropolymer with superior mechanical and UV performance or HDPE — high-density polyethylene for heavier-duty chemical service.
