Material Overview
What is PA66 MOLY?
PA66 MOLY is a molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂)-filled nylon material built on a PA66 base. It combines the higher strength and heat resistance of PA66 with the friction-reducing, wear-extending properties of MoS₂ lubrication. This makes PA66 MOLY the choice when an application needs both structural capability and improved tribological performance — something neither unfilled PA66 nor lower-strength MoS₂-filled grades can fully provide. Ready Plastics stocks PA66 MOLY sheet for precision machining.
The MoS₂ filler acts as a solid lubricant distributed throughout the material, providing consistent boundary lubrication during sliding contact without requiring external grease or oil. PA66 MOLY performs well in dynamic applications involving load-bearing sliding contact — bushings, wear plates, guide elements, and bearing surfaces that experience friction under significant mechanical load. The PA66 base ensures these components maintain rigidity and dimensional stability even under thermal and mechanical stress.
Machinability is good, following the same guidelines as standard PA66. The MoS₂ filler does not significantly affect machining behavior, and the material machines cleanly on conventional equipment to tight tolerances for precision wear components.

Frequently Asked Questions
PA66 MOLY, answered
What is PA66 MOLY?
PA66 MOLY is a molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂)-filled nylon material based on PA66. The MoS₂ filler reduces friction and extends wear life in sliding-contact applications, while the PA66 base provides higher strength and heat resistance than standard PA6. It is used for bushings, wear plates, guide elements, and bearing surfaces requiring both structural performance and improved tribological properties.
What is the difference between PA66 MOLY and PA6 MOLY?
Both use MoS₂ as a solid lubricant, but the base resin differs. PA66 MOLY has the higher strength and better heat resistance of a PA66 base, making it suited for more demanding structural and thermal environments. PA6 MOLY offers better impact toughness at slightly lower strength and temperature capability. Choose PA66 MOLY for stronger, hotter applications; PA6 MOLY for toughness-critical applications.
How does PA66 MOLY compare to PA66 GF30?
PA66 MOLY is optimized for tribological performance — reduced friction and improved wear life in sliding contact. PA66 GF30 is optimized for structural stiffness and load-bearing capability through glass fiber reinforcement. PA66 MOLY suits dynamic wear applications; PA66 GF30 suits structural and load-bearing applications.
